White Christmas | Dalton GA Photographer

Because we both grew up in Dalton, N.GA was on the Christmas agenda for Richard (husband), my son and I this year. And you may have heard that we had a very white Christmas there (6 inches-white!).

Not only did it snow on Christmas day, it also snowed significantly on the day after.  So Richard,  Karen (sis-in-law), Mark (bro-in-law) and I took this as a sign that sledding was in the cards for us.  In our best hodgepodge of warm attire that my mother-in-law could scare up for us (including toboggans, circa 1970, and sweatpants, circa 1995), we took to the hill behind Richard’s childhood home.

This was significant for several reasons that make me happy:

  1. We looked hilarious, but didn’t care.
  2. We got to hang out with some of our favorite loved ones, something we don’t do often enough.
  3. Each of us involved in this sledding quartet has become a parent in the past year… and while it is wonderful, it also makes it hard to be completely carefree and do fun and silly stuff like this.  But with grandparents just a shout away, we were free to cut loose for an afternoon of shenanigans.  Yay us!
